What: 9/11 Moving Tribute & Memorial BBQ
9/11 Moving Tribute: The U.S. Flag along with The Flag of Honor bearing the names of every first responder and citizen killed during the attack will be passed from person to person in a ~40-mile movement from Hells Gate State Park in Lewiston to Martin’s Square (E 2nd St & S Washington Ave) in Moscow. Everyone is invited to join during any point of the movement.

Memorial BBQ: For those unable to participate in the Moving Tribute during the day, you can still be involved in this special event in the early evening. The Idaho Division of Veterans Services, in partnership with University of Idaho, Lewis-Clark State College Veterans’ Network, Marines of the Palouse, and Mission43 is hosting a family-friendly BBQ in downtown Moscow beginning at approximately 4:00pm. Food will be provided for all first responders and Moving Tribute participants.
When: Sunday, September 9th
8:46am Moving tribute begins at Hells Gate State Park Discovery Center Ampitheater (free parking)
2:00pm Latah County participants stage at Moscow Elks Lodge (3080 E Hwy 8)
4:00pm BBQ to begin at Martin’s Square and flags scheduled to arrive
Who: Individuals, families, or groups are welcome to join in where they choose. For details, visit the links above.
Why: An opportunity for Idaho veterans, military spouses, community members and local business leaders to come together in recognition of this important day, to tell their story of where they were on September 11, 2001, how the world in which we live has changed, and to be an example for younger generations on how to honor it.
