Barefoot in the Park
Regional Theater of the Palouse opens the new year with Neil Simon's smash hit Broadway romantic comedy Barefoot in the Park opening just in time for Valentines, for a limited, two-week run and features a cast of RTOP favorites including, Michael Todd and Hector Aguilar, double cast as lawyer Paul and Petra Berry and Emma Ehret, double cast as high spirited wife, Corie. Randy Emerson will appear as Victor Velasco and Bryan McGeoghegan the Telephone Repairman, Jennifer Zamariski and Bailey Smith, double cast, will also be making their RTOP debut in the role of Corie's mother, Mrs. Banks. A special appearance by Jim Sato will be featured in the role of the Delivery Man. This Neil Simon classic comedy is being directed by guest director RitaRene and stage manager Destinie Davis, under the artistic direction of John Rich.
As one of Simon's earliest and most popular comedies, this light-hearted romance between a straight-laced lawyer and his impetuous free-spirited wife begins where most romantic comedies end, bringing reality and humor to the life that happens after two people fall in love and get married. Set in New York City in the early 1960s, Barefoot in the Park opens with newlyweds Paul Bratter and Corie Bratter moving into their fifth-floor walk-up apartment. Adjusting to married life soon becomes complicated by a leaking skylight, an eccentric neighbor and a meddling mother-in-law. If you like Neil Simon this is a must to see.
