Bollywood on the Palouse: Bajrangi Bhaijaan

The WSU College of Arts and Sciences, The Asia Program, The Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures and The Honors College are proud to sponsor the 1st Bollywood on the Palouse festival. Bollywood films are Hindi films produced in the city of Mumbai in India and are sheer unadulterated entertainment and a powerful global brand. Bollywood films are a fascinating window from which to study India’s culture and its entry into modernity and self-determination since independence. Join us every Tuesday in September as we celebrate recent Hindi cinema. All films are free admission. September 13th, 7:00 PM Bajrangi Bhaijaan A little mute girl from a Pakistan village gets lost on her return back from a trip to India. In Kurukshetra, she meets Pawan – a devout Hanuman Bakth – who is in the midst of a challenge posed by his lover’s father. In trying to discover her parents, he develops an unshakable bond with the kid. He tries to get into Pakistan through a path righteous to his conscience and later, with a smart Pakistani news reporter for company and makes the search, a story that captures the imagination of the public in both countries.
