Name: BookPeople's Banned Book Club - July 21, 5pm
Date: July 21, 2015
Time: 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM PDT
Event Description:
BookPeople is continuing our book club with a special Banned Books focused club meeting hosted by BookPeople's Jesica Sweedler Dehart and featuring Sherman Alexie's acclaimed novel, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. Reported to be one of the most banned books in the country, and set nearby on the Spokane Indian Reservation, this story of a teenage boy trying to come into his own, against considerable odds, offers much to connect with and talk about. This summer's book club pick is appropriate for teenagers and adults. In preparation for the book club meeting, Jesica is asking participants to read Sherman Alexie's book along with one other banned book title. For those unable to make the July 21 meeting date, a second date is planned for August 11 at 1pm. Buy The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian and one other banned book here at BookPeople, and receive 15% off your purchase.
