Name: Closing of The Greg Kucera and Larry Yocom Collection
Date: March 25, 2016
Event Description:
Be sure to check out The Greg Kucera and Larry Yocom Collection before it ends!

Distinguished as one of the Northwest's longest-standing and respected gallerists, Seattle resident Greg Kucera with his husband Larry Yocom, have also built an extensive private art collection.  Assembled collaboratively over a 30-year span, the Kucera/Yocom collection focuses primarily on contemporary and historic art of the Northwest, while encompassing many significant works by internationally-known artists.  Varied and nuanced, their collection contains additional holdings of erotica, including Japanese shunga, along with objects by self-taught makers and decorative arts from the world-over.

Collection-building is ultimately a highly personal curatorial enterprise, following themes of interest "with eyes that remain fresh" on the outlook for unexpected expressions of creativity.  Our exhibition honors the selectivity of Greg and Larry, and reflects further shaping by the curatorial team here at the Museum of Art.  Additionally, the exhibition affords us an opportunity to survey a cultural ecosystem where artist, dealer, collector, curator, and the public-at-large all have key contributions to make.
