Copper enameling is an ancient art practiced by artists from the far and middle east, throughout continental Europe and the British isles.The artist melts ground glass (silica) onto a metal base (copper, silver, gold, or pre-coated steel) using temperatures varying from 1200 to 1700 degrees F. In this class we will create 2 pendants using the sifting method with stencils. Students will take their projects home. Please wear close fitting sleeves, closed toe shoes, and tie hair back.
Instructor: Valerie Boydo began learning copper enameling in grade school, then after a 10 year break found classes at the Columbus Ohio Cultural Arts Center, she took classes and taught there until moving to Pullman in 2001.
Material fee: Please plan to pay the instructor a $15 materials fee the day of the class.
