Name: Esto Perpetua Award Reception Honoring LCHS Curator Emeritus, Joann Jones
Date: June 9, 2015
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
Please join the Latah County Historical Society in congratulating LCHS Curator Emeritus, Joann Jones, for receiving the Esto Perpetua Award from the Idaho State Historical Society. The reception will be held on Tuesday, June 9th at 6:00 p.m. at the McConnell Mansion, located at 110 South Adams Street. We will be serving heavy hors d’oeuvres and there will be a no-host bar.

Jones earned a Master’s Degree in Home Economics from Ohio State University, and went on to teach related subjects at Columbus Business University, the University of New Mexico, and the University of Idaho. She left teaching in 1986 to become Museum Curator for the Latah County Historical Society. In her work as Curator, Jones oversaw much of the restoration for McConnell Mansion. After taking disability retirement in 2002, due to advancing multiple sclerosis, Jones continued with volunteer work for the society.

Today, Jones has found a way to rekindle her passion for sharing local history with the public. Working with an editor, voice to text software, and a few guest writers, Jones is the author of “Nearby History”, a weekly column highlighting local history that runs every Saturday in the Moscow-Pullman Daily News.
