Special Promotion for our Heroes on the Palouse:
Veterans and active military men and women and their families are encouraged to attend a performance of
HEROES at 50% off the ticket price. We also have fully-subsidized tickets for any member of the armed services
and their families who wish to attend.
Set in the warm days of August 1959 in a French retirement home for veterans of the First World War, HEROES
tells the story of three colorful, playfully mischievous older gentlemen—Henri, Phillipe and Gustave—residents
of the home who have “commandeered” garden terrace of the convent hospital from which they are planning
their escape. But mostly they while away their time in playful reminiscence of the past, gossip about the other
“inmates” or the nuns caring for them, and looking toward the distant poplar trees that dot the perimeter of the
world just beyond their reach.
‘Without décor’ is an English term used to describe simple, unadorned presentations of plays that focus the
audience’s attention on the script, the story, the playwright’s words. All the actors need is a music stand and a
bottle of water. The rest exists in the audience’s imagination. We do not invest our limited budget in sets or
costumes or the other typical trappings of production--we invest all of our resources in the artists you see
performing—the writers, directors and the actors who bring the story to life.
