Event Description:
The American Place Theatre's Literature to Life® stage presentation of "Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl" by Harriet Jacobs. The author is the protagonist in this solo piece that illuminates in shocking fashion the traumas of slavery, particularly for women and children. The stage adaptation culminates in Harriet Jacobs' powerful and moving experiences during the seven years she spent hiding in "the loophole," a crawlspace in her grandmother's attic. Illuminated by pre- and post-show discussions, the audience will explore themes including resilience and survival. Tickets may be purchased in advance at all TicketsWest outlets, including online at TicketsWest.com, by phone at 800-325-SEAT (7328), or at the Beasley Coliseum ticket office (open M?F 10-2). Additional fees apply to online and phone orders. Same-day tickets will be available at the Daggy Hall box office beginning 2 hours before the performance. WSU Alumni Association members and groups of 8 or more receive discounts off regular adult ticket prices. Free admission for WSU students is sponsored by a grant from the CougParents Program; WSU student tickets are available in advance at Beasley Coliseum with valid ID.
