Name: International Women's Day Parlor Talk
Date: March 8, 2017
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM PST
Event Description:
The Latah County Historical Society is hosting a series of informal talks in the parlor of McConnell Mansion. Kicking off our spring series on Wednesday, March 8th at 7:00 p.m. is Lysa Salsbury, Director of the UI Women’s Center. In honor of International Women’s Day, Salsbury will lead an interactive discussion on the 2017 IWD campaign theme, “Be Bold for Change.” Salsbury will give a brief history on the origins of International Women’s Day, the UI Women’s Center, and share a personal anecdote of a time she was Bold for Change. Attendees will also be invited to share their own stories. The program will conclude with suggestions for actions that participants can take to effect change in their communities. Salsbury is co-president of Athena, the University of Idaho’s professional organization for women, and she is co-chairing the 2017 Women’s Leadership Conference. International Women’s Day is observed globally on March 8th. Celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, IWD raises awareness that gender parity has slowed in many places around the world. McConnell Mansion is located at 110 South Adams Street in Moscow. This event is free and open to the public.
