Emiko Yamada is a teenage girl growing up in Seattle's Nihonmachi (Japantown) when, in 1942, President Roosevelt's Executive Order 9066 imprisons thousands of loyal Americans, who struggle to maintain their families while incarcerated and rebuild their lives after the war ends. Witness this silent chapter of our history as one Japanese American family fights to sustain faith in each other and the country they love. Living Voices is a nationally touring educational theatre bringing life to history through the power of live theatre, video, and personal discussion. Emi's narrative is vividly illustrated through archival film and photographs.
