Event Description:
Living Voices is an educational theater company that combines dynamic performance and archival photos and film to bring life to history. "The New American" follows an immigrant’s journey from the turmoil of the old country to the promise of America in 1912. It tells the story of one Irish woman as she endures the storms of a transatlantic steamship voyage, the chaos and indignities of immigrant processing at Ellis Island, and the hazardous working conditions of a Manhattan sweatshop. As she faces the prospect of US citizenship, the audience learns what American liberty and opportunity mean to people around the world. Tickets may be purchased in advance at all TicketsWest outlets, including online at TicketsWest.com, by phone at 800-325-SEAT (800-325-7328), and at the Beasley Coliseum ticket office (open Mon-Fri 10-2 beginning in August). Convenience charges apply at all locations except Beasley. Free WSU student tickets require valid ID and may be picked up in advance only at Beasley Coliseum.
