Keynote Speaker: Douglas Welch; Captain, Medical Services Corps, U.S. Navy.
The Moscow American Legion Dudley Loomis Post No. 6 will host this year's Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday; May 25; at 11:00 a.m.; at the Latah County Fairgrounds. Members of the Hawley-Jameson Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will also participate in the ceremony. Music will be provided by the Moscow High School and Moscow Middle School bands under the direction of Mr. Joel Pals. Keynote speaker will be Captain Douglas Welch, U.S. Navy, Retired, from Lewiston. Captain Welch served eight years as an enlisted Hospital Corpsman, then another twenty-eight years as a commissioned officer in the Navy Medical Service Corps. During that time he served as a medical plans and operations officer and medical intelligence officer, including overseas tours in Puerto Rico, Iraq, and NATO Command Headquarters in the Netherlands, where he was responsible for overseeing NATO medical support in Afghanistan. Please join us as we honor all those who served in the Armed Forces and pay tribute to all who gave their lives in service of the Nation.
