Event Description:
Author Molly Gloss will read from her latest book, Falling From Horses, on Wednesday, November 19th, at 7:30pm at BookPeople.

Set in 1938, this novel tells the story of a ranch hand who sets out for Hollywood to become a stunt rider not long after losing his little sister.  On the long bus ride south, he meets Lily Shaw, a bold, outspoken young woman who’s also hoping to make it into the movie business, as a scriptwriter and producer. The two form an unlikely friendship that will carry them though their tumultuous days in Hollywood— and as it happens, for the rest of their lives.

Molly Gloss is a fourth-generation Oregonian who now lives in Portland on the west side of the Tualatin Hills. She is the author of five novels: The Jump-Off Creek, The Dazzle of Day, Wild Life, The Hearts of Horses, and Falling From Horses. Her awards include the Oregon Book Award, a Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award, the PEN West Fiction Prize, the James Tiptree Jr. Award; and a Whiting Writers Award. Her work often concerns the landscape, literature, mythology and life of the American West.
