Name: Moscow Co-op Healthy Eating Class
Date: December 1, 2018
Time: 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM PST
Event Description:
The Moscow Food Co-op is hosting another installment of their Healthy Eating on a Budget class this weekend, this time including a tour of the remodeled store.
In this class, participants will learn how to plan a whole week’s worth of meals at once to save time and money. After a brief overview of meal planning tips, the class will conclude with a tour showcasing the best aisles to shop at the Co-op for maximum value and minimum cost. Attendees will learn tips for saving money when shopping and cooking by utilizing staple ingredients found in the Produce section and getting creative in the kitchen.
At most class sessions, samples of the discussed recipes will be provided, all of which are made to be 100% plant-based and free from the top eight major allergens. The instructor, registered dietician Alice Ma, is a long-time Co-op owner and volunteer, as well as a self-taught cook whose recipes are easy to replicate and typically cost less than a dollar per serving. Her class series is now the Co-op’s longest-running and will be reboot in the spring of 2019.
Tickets are $5 for the public, $3 for Co-op owners, and free for participants in the Co-op’s FLOWER program and student owners. Those who register ahead of time are eligible to receive reimbursement for their ticket price in the form of a Co-op gift card. Registration can be found online at https://www.moscowfood.coop/classes.
