Event Description:
The Latah County Historical Society in collaboration with the Moscow Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center will host a celebration of the opening of Crossroads: Change in Rural America, a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibit, on Friday, August 23rd from 5:00 to 7:00pm in Friendship Square. A short presentation will begin at 5:15 to introduce the exhibit to the community, followed by a ribbon cutting in front of the Chamber’s downtown office, which will officially open Crossroads to the public. Light refreshments will be served during the reception in Friendship Square and live music will be provided by Ray Wallace. Attendees will have the chance to tour the exhibit, hosted at 411 S. Main Street through October 4th. The event is free and open to the public.
 
In addition to celebrating the premier of Crossroads in Moscow, the first of six Idaho communities to host the exhibit, the event will also mark the beginning of Museum on Main Street’s 25th season. Museum on Main Street is a nation-wide program administered by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service, in collaboration with state humanities organizations like Idaho Humanities Council. A representative from the Smithsonian is expected to be in attendance at the Moscow event to commemorate the milestone for their agency.
