The Yarn Underground, LLC of Moscow is excited to present the Palouse Fiber Arts Festival! Two days of fiber arts workshops, a market that is free to the public, and a speaker for Saturday evening are the highlights.
Workshops run from 8:30-4:30 Saturday and Sunday and cost is $55 per each half day of class; half-day and full-day classes are available and most classes will be held at the 1912 Center. Many national-level teachers: Mary Jane Mucklestone, Sarah Swett, Amelia Garripoli, Jacey Boggs, Lynn Ruggles, and Mary Scott Huff. Classes include indigo dyeing, weaving, spinning for drop spindles and wheels, colorwork knitting, color theory, woll combing, and steeking.
The fiber market will be open 9-5:30 Saturday and 9-4pm Sunday, free to the public, featuring both Jenkins and Greensleeves drop spindles, hand dyed yarns and fibers, and locally grown farm yarns and fibers and more. There will be spinning wheels and looms to try and buy, as well as other fiber related equipment.
A speaking event is scheduled for Saturday evening at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre in downtown Moscow: starting at 6pm, Meet The Teachers; at 7pm hear Mary Scott Huff's talk on "All I need To Know I Learned From Knitting"; at 8pm a quick raffling of door prizes donated by the vendors. Tickets are $10, available at The Yarn Underground, LLC or free with class registration.
