Event Description:
The application deadline for presenters for the spring Palouse Knowledge Corridor Business Showcase Business Showcase event is drawing near.  Applications must be received by March 14, 2014 by 5 p.m.  Entrepreneurs, those starting or have recently started small business ventures, who are interested in showcasing their business ideas during a Palouse Knowledge Corridor Business Showcase Event are encouraged to download the short application form at www.palouseknowledgecorridor.com and submit it to info@palouseknowledgecorridor.com.  The Business Showcase Event will be held on April 3, 2014 at BellTower Concert House & Event Venue, located at 125 SE Spring Street in Pullman, Washington from 2 - 5 p.m.   
 
Preselected presenters will have 15 minutes to present their business idea and plan to a roomful of possible investors and community members. Presentations should include an overview of the product or services being developed, management and market strategies, technologies employed, financial projections, amount of investment required, employee growth, and an exit strategy if applicable.
 
The general public is invited to attend.  Investors attending the event may be private individuals or venture capitalists and there is no obligation to invest in any of the ideas presented.

The program for the April 3 Palouse Knowledge Corridor Business Showcase event will feature up to seven businesses including the following:

SandyClock provides task-driven labor scheduling and monitoring solutions. Its patent-pending cloud-based and mobile-enabled solutions enable on-demand task scheduling, on-the-spot task punch in/out, real-time labor monitoring, and labor data analysis. It is founded in 2014 by a WSU CS faculty.

Unifine
The Unifine whole grain flour milling system has been under development at WSU for the last sixty years. With consumer demand locally milled whole grain flour skyrocketing, WSU Design Clinic teams have updated the milling system design, the first of which is completed and will begin operating soon.

Vertical Garden Sustainability Center (VGSC)
Vertical Garden Sustainability Center (VGSC) is a social entrepreneurship investing in local food security, sustainable practices, and innovative technologies within our community. We combine several new and ancient technologies to grow organic vegetables, herbs, and fish in a closed biological nutrient cycle that has been shown to be as much at 13 times more productive than intensive soil agriculture on the same footprint. VGSC was conceived over two years ago but is only now coming into fruition.

Phytelligence, Inc.
Phytelligence is the first plant/agricultural spin-off from WSU founded on validated technologies developed over the last 8 years in response to agriculture industry's critical need of obtaining ready-to-plant and guaranteed true to type plant material. Phytelligence was founded in 2011 by Dr. Amit Dhingra, Associate Professor, Department of Horticulture and his graduate students. The core business of Phytelligence is the propagation and sale of superior quality plants with guaranteed genetic identity for the US tree fruit and nut industry. The company also provides sophisticated genetic analysis services for intellectual property protections, variety identification, and custom genetic work.

Omache Farm
Omache Farm is a small family farm nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Palouse just south of Pullman, WA. Omache Farm strives to follow organic, natural and sustainable principles and methods in their farming believing that it promotes a healthier way to eat and live. In their endeavors to be sustainable, they are growing and taking on many new enterprises to help the land.
