The Yarn Underground, LLC of Moscow is excited to present the Palouse Fiber Arts Festival! Three days of events including two days of fiber arts workshops, a market and fleece sale that are free to the public, and a speaker for Saturday evening are the highlights. In conjunction with Moscow's Artwalk, the weekend kicks off Friday with free demonstrations and hors d'eouvres. 6-8pm, teachers and vendors will be demonstrating their skills in knitting, spinning, weaving, carding, pottery and more. Workshops run from 8:30-4:30 Saturday and Sunday and cost is $60 per each half day of class; half-day and full-day classes are available and classes will be held at the 1912 Center and adjacent High School. Many national-level teachers: Sarah Swett, Mary Scott Huff, Esther Rodgers, Beth Smith, Amelia Garripoli, and Lynn Ruggles. Classes include indigo dyeing, weaving, spinning with drop spindles and wheels, knitting colorwork, knitting socks, color theory, sheep breeds, wool preparation, and steeking. New this year: free lunch included with paid class registration, catered by the South Fork Food Truck! The fiber market will be open 12-8pm Friday, 8-5:30 Saturday and 8-1:30pm Sunday and is free to the public. Featuring both Jenkins and Greensleeves drop spindles, as well as hand dyed yarns and fibers, and locally grown farm yarns and fibers and more. There will be spinning wheels and looms to try and buy, as well as other fiber related equipment. Saturday evening has its own event at the Moscow High School, starting at 6pm: Meet The Teachers; at 7pm hear Ashley Yousling speak on "The Importance Of Community"; at 8pm a quick raffling of door prizes donated by vendors.
