MOSCOW – It doesn’t take much. In fact, just an hour a week with a child can help them avoid drugs and alcohol, establish life goals, boost self-esteem and stay in school, according to a national study on mentoring done by the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. And in Moscow, getting involved with community youth is easy through Moscow Mentoring and Latah County Youth Advocacy Council organizations.
The Eastside Marketplace is out to help. January is National Mentoring Month, and on Thursday, Jan. 28, Lamadrid Mexican Restaurant and Bar and Winger’s Roadhouse Grille, both locally-owned restaurants in the Eastside Marketplace, will donate 10 percent of dining ticket sales from 4-
8 p.m. to the Moscow Mentor Program and Latah County Youth Advocacy Council. Moscow Mentors is a local mentoring group that brings volunteer mentors into community schools. The Latah County Youth Advocacy Council is youth, families, and community organizations collaborating to reduce youth substance use in Latah County.
