Preservation Idaho's 42nd annual Orchids and Onions Awards ceremony will be held in Moscow on Saturday, June 8. The event will showcase individuals and organizations around the state that have made positive contributions to historic preservation, as well as bring awareness to projects which have shown insensitivity to historic preservation. This year’s event is held in cooperation with Idaho Smart Growth, and will include a recognition of past Moscow recipients of Grow Smart Awards, ISG’s statewide annual awards program celebrating excellent examples of smart growth principles. This combined celebration is a chance to highlight interests Preservation Idaho and Idaho Smart Growth have in common. The event will take place Saturday, June 8 in the historic 1912 Center with doors opening at 2:00pm. The awards presentation will begin at 2:30pm, followed by a reception with light appetizers and drinks, and guided tours of the facility. Tickets are $15 in advance, and $20 at the door. The public is welcome. Optional activities are planned throughout the day. In addition, the historic McConnell Mansion is across the street and offers free tours on Saturdays from 1:00pm-4:00pm.
