Name: Rainy Days Reveal New Public Art Installation
Date: January 21, 2017
Event Description:
There is a new reason to look forward to autumn precipitation. Rainy days reveal the newest public art installation in downtown Moscow. #WaterWordsMoscow is a collaborative project between the Moscow Arts Department, Moscow Public Library and the Latah County Historical Society. The project, often referred to as water graffiti, involves using a waterproofing agent to create sidewalk art. On dry days the art is totally invisible. When it rains, however, the pavement that has been waterproofed remains dry while the surrounding concrete changes color because of the moisture.

The #WaterWordsMoscow installations are quotes about water from authors, artists, scholars and more. The project is meant to raise awareness for the upcoming Smithsonian traveling exhibit Water/Ways, which will be on display at Moscow’s City Hall from December 9th to January 21st.  The exhibit is brought to town by City of Moscow, the Latah County Historical Society, and the Idaho Humanities Council.

A map of all of the installation sites can be found on the LCHS website, www.latahcountyhistoricalsociety.org.
