John Woo's epic war film based on the Battle of Red Cliffs (208-209 AD) fought prior to China's Three Kingdon's period. The Han Dynasty's General Cao Cao (Fengyi Zhang) leads his huge armies in a bid to unify China. Standing against him is the outnumbered armies of the alliance of rebel southern provinces led by Viceroy Zhou Yu (Tony Leung).
