Join us at BookPeople of Moscow, June 22nd at 7:00pm, for a reading and Q&A from Rodney Frey's new book, Carry Forththe Stories: An Ethnographer's Journey into Native Oral Tradition. Among topics explored in this "ethnographic memoir" are the power and importance of story and empathy, and how we can address the seemingly "mutually exclusive" in our interpersonal relationships. Four pivotal stories and experiences with indigenous elders in the mid-1970s laid the foundations for Frey's professional and personal lives, each interwoven with the other, culminating with his journey with cancer. There are lessons from the indigenous for us all. Rodney Frey is an educator and writer on world religions, but particularly on North American Indian traditions. He is Professor of Ethnography at the University of Idaho, and lives in Moscow, Idaho
