Event Description:
The University of Idaho Women's Center is proud to present the second event in our Spring 2016 Women's Film Series! Join us for a special screening of the critically-acclaimed film "In the Turn," a feature-length documentary about a 10-year-old transgender girl, Crystal, who finds acceptance and empowerment in the company of the Vagine Regime, an international queer collective of roller derby players comprised of people of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds and identities. The film will be introduced by Julia Keleher, Director of the UI LGBTQA Office, and Lindsey Peterson-Pope, member of the roller derby team, Palouse River Rollers. Admission is free. Donations to the Women's Center will be accepted. On the last Monday of every month from January-April 2016, the Women's Center will be screening a specially selected film at the Kenworthy that highlights issues of gender justice and equity. The film line-up for the rest of the series includes: March 28 - India's Daughter (indiasdaughter.com/) April 25 - He Named Me Malala (www.henamedmemalalamovie.com/) This program is supported in part by a grant from the Idaho Humanities Council, a State-based program of the National Endowment for the Humanities. The series is also supported by a generous donation from Moscow Wild @ Art and the Moscow Food Co-op's Dime in Time program.
