Event Description:
Every person, regardless of the severity of his/her disabilities has the right and the ability to communicate with others, express everyday preferences, and exercise at least some control over his or her daily life. Come to learn and discuss about alternative ways of communicating for individuals with disabilities. Denise Wetzel will be presenting about what she learned at a conference at the Institute on Communication and Inclusion in Syracuse, NY this past summer. Denise will be discussing supported typing or facilitated communication which is a form of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). Supported typing allows for the individual to get physical support to help develop effective pointing skills for communication using pictures, symbols, letters and words. Watch Denise and Mark as they learn supported typing together through their blog at www.reMARKablecommunication.blogspot.com
