Name: Two Northwest Authors Bring Doubleheader Signing to BookPeople
Date: August 26, 2017
Time: 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM PDT
Event Description:
Northwest authors, Heather S. Ransom and Benjamin Gorman, will be joining together for a signing at BookPeople on Saturday, August 26th. Heather S. Ransom is the author of "Going Green", a young adult dystopia about a future where people are genetically modified to have chloroplasts in their skin cells so they don’t have to eat. They have become GMOs. But the procedure doesn’t work for everyone, and the novel’s protagonist is thrust into a conflict that forces the reader to think about contemporary issues like racism and police brutality. Ransom is a middle school science teacher in Medford, Oregon, and she brings her love of science and her real knowledge of young adults together in this fun, thought-provoking novel. Benjamin Gorman lives in Independence, Oregon, but he used to live in Spokane and graduated from Whitworth University (back when it was Whitworth College). His most recent novel, "The Digital Storm", is a science fiction retelling of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. His previous novel, Corporate High School, is a young adult dystopia about a future in which a private company takes over public education and uses that platform to take over the world. His first novel, The Sum of Our Gods, is religious satire (which Gorman calls “gently blasphemous”) in which the gods and goddesses of many religions perform a madcap comedy in our world, mostly at the expense of one particularly unfortunate insurance salesman.
