Event Description:
Come sample and learn about chocolate from an expert Thursday, April 19, at the University of Idaho Retirees Association’s (UIRA) Spring Brunch at the Best Western Plus University Inn in Moscow. “Chocolate: Food of the Gods” is the topic of guest speaker Lauren Fins following the 10 am brunch of Quiche Lorraine, fresh fruit, a muffin, coffee, and tea. Retired forestry professor Lauren Fins spent 33 years teaching and researching at the U of I. During a Fulbright fellowship to Costa Rica, she researched and published “The History of Cacao and Chocolate,” for a graduate level class on the topic. She’ll share some of her knowledge of the natural and cultural history of chocolate along with the social and environmental effects of its popularity. Brunch guests will sample bites and sips of chocolate. The event begins with a no-host social at 9:30 am. All University of Idaho retirees and their spouses and guests are welcome to the $14 brunch and talk. Current U of I employees who are age 50 or older are also welcome.
