Name: Vietnam War Discussion Series
Date: October 11, 2017
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM PDT
Event Description:
The Latah County Historical Society (LCHS) invites the public to a discussion series about the Vietnam War that will take place in the weeks following the airing of PBS’s newest documentary directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick. Although a significant event in American history, many today know little about the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War, which premiered on September 17th and is comprised of 10 episodes, “tells the epic story of one of the most consequential, divisive, and controversial events in American history as it has never before been told on film.”

In collaboration with a group of local veterans that served during the Vietnam War, LCHS will host a three-part discussion series. Each session will open with a conversation about three to four episodes from the documentary, which attendees are encouraged to watch in advance. A panel of veterans will then be invited to share their experiences as they relate to that period of the war, and will take questions from the audience. Attendees should keep in mind that the participating veterans were not involved in policy making, and therefore the discussions will be focused on their first-hand experiences.
