DESCRIPTION:Summer is a favorite season for crews at Palouse Area Care & Transport (PACT EMS). In addition to responding to the needs of patients and hospitals\, PACT EMS Paramedics and EMTs may be found flashing their emergency lights at the scene of neighborhood lemonade stands in Moscow and Pullman and purchasing lemonade and cookies. The Lights on Lemonade Program\, now in its third year\, seeks to encourage children under 14 to give small business a try while gaining community support. \n\n\n\n"It's amazing to watch their faces light up\," said Troy Zakariasen\, owner of PACT EMS. "Lights on Lemonade is growing increasingly diverse every year with more kids advertising lemonade stands\, lawn care services\, or selling books and cupcakes. It's great to see the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of these children and the support they receive from our communities."\n\n\n\nChildren selling lemonade or starting other small business ventures in their neighborhoods can contact the Moscow-based ambulance company\, which will with a parent's permission advertise the location and hours of the lemonade stand on the company's social media pages. A PACT EMS ambulance will then visit the stand and the crew will briefly turn on the emergency lights to help attract more customers.\n\n\n\nParticipants will be entered in a random drawing to be held on August 31\, 2019 to win one of two cash prizes: a $100 first prize and a $50 second prize. \n\n\n\nArea residents interested in supporting young entrepreneurs can simply "Like" and follow the PACT EMS Facebook page to get the latest information about Lights on Lemonade spotlightees.
