January 31, 2017 (Moscow, Idaho)— The City of Moscow is considering renaming the trail stop located between Blaine Street and Alturas Parkway on the north side of the Paradise Path currently known as “Blackbird Crossing” to “Blackbird Station”.

The Moscow Pathways Commission, during their December 13, 2016 meeting, discussed and recommended the name change to promote public safety and discourage the public from crossing Highway 8 between the Paradise Path and Eastside Marketplace.  That recommendation was forwarded to the Moscow Parks and Recreation Commission who discussed and recommended approval of the name change at their January 26, 2017 meeting.  Given the recommendation, the required 60-day public comment period for facility name changes will begin on February 1, 2017 and continue until 5:00 p.m. on April 3, 2017.  Written comments on the proposed name change to Blackbird Station must be submitted to the Hamilton Indoor Recreation Center or emailed to David Schott at dschott@ci.moscow.id.us.  Comments from the public comment period will be reviewed by the Moscow Parks and Recreation Commission on April 27, 2017 prior to making a final recommendation to the Moscow City Council.
