Art Workshop: Beginning to Intermediate Oil Painting with Tobias Sauer

The City of Moscow Arts Commission and the Heart of the Arts, Inc. have partnered to provide art workshops for young adults and the young at heart. These workshops provide not only a day of fun but an opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience in a variety of art fields.

Upcoming workshop: Beginning to Intermediate Oil Painting with Tobias Sauer

The goal of this workshop is to give students knowledge of basic composition, an understanding of materials and some of the techniques Tobias has used with success. The first morning will give general instruction on using oil paint. This will include how to navigate mediums, properties of oil paint, methods for mixing paint, and color matching.  The rest of the workshop Tobias will walk participants through a painting and provide individual feedback as time allows.

Location: 1912 Center - Arts Room

Dates: September 15, 16, and 17
Year: 2017
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (class will break each day for an hour lunch)
Minimum Participants: 5
Cost: $195 per participant plus the cost of supplies

The application deadline is September 12, 2017 by 5:00 p.m. After the deadline, applications will be accepted if space is available.

  • 1 small round short handle watercolor brush size 1-2 
  • Assortment of flat brushes sizes 1-6 
  • Palette
  • Palette knife

  • Liquin medium
  • Odorless mineral spirits and container for washing brushes
  • Paper towels
  • iPad or tablet if you have one for reference material
  • Easel
