Avista Names New District Manager for St. Maries

Avista has selected Chris Sands, longtime local resident, as the new operations manager for the St. Maries operating district, where he will oversee all electric operations on behalf of Avista.
“It’s great to have someone in the St. Maries office, serving Avista customers, that is from the area, knows the people, and is so involved in the community,” said David Howell, Avista’s director of operations.
Chris received his associate’s degree in utility line from Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska in 1993. After graduating, he moved to the area and accepted a job with Avista as a lineman apprentice. Chris has over 24 years of operations experience and has lived in St. Maries with his family for the last 15 years. Chris is actively involved in the community including being on the board of Timber Plus, a member of the St. Joe Valley Search and Rescue, and 4H. His past experience with Avista includes serving as a serviceman, line school instructor, a lineman and now an operations manager. Chris is married and has three children.
