Big Changes Coming to Lewis Clark Recyclers, Inc.
China’s implementation of initiatives focused on post-consumer-goods imports have serious
implications for sustainability on a local level.
Lewiston, ID–September 28, 2018– Lewis Clark Recyclers, Inc. (LCRI) have been championing recycling
and reducing waste on the Palouse since 1989.
It is with a heavy heart that LCRI must announce the discontinuation of collecting post-consumer plastics.
Market forces that are far beyond their control, namely China’s implementation of a pair of initiatives with
regard to importing post-consumer goods, have driven the price of these materials to zero. These initiatives
have made it impossible to maintain the current levels of service, including maintaining their robust workforce,
without taking such a drastic measure.
As of right now, there is no clear solution to remedy this situation, however LCRI is working diligently and
using all avenues available to devise a long-term, sustainable plan. This is an issue that is not only affecting our
region, but the Country at large and the entire world.

“We take great pride in the services we provide, and we are continually overwhelmed by the passion of the people and
businesses we work with to make the world around them a cleaner, more sustainable place to live.”
