April 19, 2017 (Moscow, Idaho) — In support of month-long Earth Day celebration activities, the City of Moscow is hosting two downtown events in Friendship Square on Friday, April 21, 2017.

  • At 9 a.m. everyone is invited to join the City of Moscow, the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, and Buy Local Moscow for the annual Downtown Moscow Cleanup Day in Friendship Square.  Join us for this community-wide spring cleaning day, rain or shine.  The City of Moscow will provide trash bags and tools for participants and teams for the cleanup of the community in preparation for graduation, the kickoff of the 2017 Moscow Farmers Market Season, and to celebrate Earth Week.
    • For more information, please contact Kelli Cooper, AmeriCorps Sustainability Technician by email at kcooper@ci.moscow.id.us or by phone at 208.883.7122.

  • From 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. the City of Moscow, along with volunteers from the University of Idaho and Moscow High School will be installing “Drains to Stream” placards near storm drain catch basins. Additional volunteers from the community are also invited! These placards help citizens identify connections to the storm sewer system.  Storm sewers route water directly to our creeks and rivers with no treatment, making public awareness imperative in order to preserve water quality and protect aquatic life.  Instructions for installation of the placards will be provided on-site.
    • For more information, please contact Ty Thompson, Environmental Services Compliance Coordinator, by email at tthompson@ci.moscow.id.us or by phone at 208.883.7111.
