City of Moscow Sixth Street Construction

The Sixth Street Construction project, stretching from Deakin to Asbury Street, will be completed in early August, allowing returning students and school faculty to easily access campus without any detours.  Construction began in late May with the purpose of enhancing the City’s wastewater reclamation conveyance pipes by installing approximately 1,400 feet of 36” conveyance line. This will replace a 24”conveyance line, which the City has identified as inadequate to accommodate the increasing flows to the Waste Water Treatment Plant.  The project is one in a series of improvements identified per planned replacement and right-sizing of facilities with the goal of modernizing the City’s ability to efficiently reclaim and reuse the water that goes down the drain.

After the Deakin to Asbury project on Sixth Street project is completed, the City will begin a separate construction project on the Sixth Street near the Jackson Street intersection.  The project consists of realigning the eastbound turn lane on Sixth Street so that traffic passing through the intersection no longer has to shift an entire lane width to the south to avoid traffic turning left onto Jackson Street. This adjustment will allow vehicles and bicycles to travel through the intersection along a safer path. In addition to the realigned turn lane this project will install a curb extension for the parking on Jackson Street, a pedestrian bench, and a decorative walkway. This project will connect with the future development of the Moscow Urban Renewal Agency property at the southwest corner of Sixth Street and Jackson Street.

Access to Sixth Street and to all local businesses will remain open for the duration of both projects. Citizens are asked to be aware of detours and possible delays near this location.
