DECEMBER EVENTS ACROSS THE LATAH COUNTY LIBRARY DISTRICT

December 6: Winter Art Contest at Juliaetta Community Library. 
Youth, preschool-age through 12th grade, are invited to participate in this fun, Winter-themed Art Contest! Submissions will be accepted beginning on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, and the deadline to submit is January 5, 2018. One entry per participant will be accepted, and a finalist will be chosen, by public vote, from each grade category: pre/K, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th, 9th/10th, 11th/12th. Each of the seven finalists will receive a prize, and finalists’ artwork will be on display at Juliaetta Community Library through February! December 7: Fun with Math and Science Workshop at Troy Community Library. This free program takes place on Thursday, December 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the Troy Community Library and is open to preschool-aged children and their caregivers. This educational event includes fun, hands-on STEAM stations and a free at-home science experiment book in exchange for filling out a short evaluation form, with a limit one book per family. Fun with Math and Science is an Idaho Commission for Libraries program, with funding from The Institute of Museum and Library Services.

December 9: Christmas Open House at Potlatch Public Library. After the Potlatch community Lighted Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 9, Potlatch Public Library will open their doors for a Christmas Open House around 5:30 p.m.  Community members are invited to come in and enjoy cookies and cider and children’s crafts, hear the Junior Jammers play until the fireworks begin, and say goodbye to long-time Branch Manager, Donna, and hello to Cass, the new manager of the Latah County Library District Potlatch Branch.  

December 11 -15: After-School Holiday Afternoon Crafternoon at Moscow Public Library. Upper-elementary and middle-school youth are invited to Moscow Public Library every day from Monday, December 11 through Friday, December 15 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. for an After-School Holiday Afternoon Crafternoon. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy making passive “gifty” crafts and will have the use of a gift-wrapping station. Space and Supplies are limited.

December 16: Winter Storytime at Moscow Public Library. Families with young children are invited to attend Moscow Public Library’s Winter Storytime on Saturday, December 16 at 11:00 a.m. This event will take the place of the library’s monthly Storytime at the Palouse Mall for the month of December, and will be a celebration of the winter holidays, with snowy stories, jingly holiday songs, and other festive activities!
