Distracted Driving and Seatbelt Emphasis Patrol Announced

April 17, 2017 (Moscow, Idaho) — The Moscow Police Department is partnering with the Latah County Sheriff’s Office and Idaho State Police for an emphasis patrol focused on reducing the number of distracted drivers and the rate of traffic injuries.  The patrol will be run from April 21, through April 23, 2017.  Through education and increased law enforcement presence, the agencies hope to increase the rate of seatbelt use within the region and bring more awareness to the safety issues related to texting and driving.
 
The goal of this project is to support the statewide highway safety goal of reducing motor vehicle related deaths and serious injuries.  Citizens are reminded to buckle up and turn off their phones.
