Food for Thought Film Series FREE film Co-sponsored by Moscow Food Co-op ''Seed: The Untold Story''

The Moscow Food Co-op is proud to present “SEED: The Untold Story” for the Food for Thought Film Series.  The film will be shown at 7 p.m., Monday, May 22 at the Kenworthy Performing Arts Centre in downtown Moscow.  The free event is co-sponsored by the Palouse Prairie Charter School.
 
Before the film, fifth graders from Palouse Prairie Charter School, as part of a class project on the loss of biodiversity, will perform an art and poetry piece to showcase their knowledge, inspire others, and give a voice to the endangered animals within the biomes they researched.
 
The Food for Thought Film Series, presented by the Moscow Food Co-op, features an entertaining and thought-provoking film.
 
Film summary: “SEED:  The Untold Story” follows passionate seed keepers protecting our 12,000-year-old food legacy. In the last century, 94% of our seed varieties have disappeared. As biotech chemical companies control the majority of our seeds, farmers, scientists, lawyers, and indigenous seed keepers fight a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these reluctant heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds. “SEED” features Vandana Shiva, Dr. Jane Goodall, Andrew Kimbrell, Winona Laduke and Raj Patel.
