Genesee’s Little Pink House Gallery launches fifth season with PURE

May 20, 2019 (GENESEE, Idaho) — On Saturday and Sunday, June 8 and 9, Little Pink House Gallery in Genesee will present PURE, a two-day pop-up event featuring regional and nationally recognized artists. This first show of the gallery’s fifth season is dedicated to the artists’ definition of “pure”. Little Pink House Gallery is located at 157 North Elm Street in Genesee. Look for pink house signs on the routes into town. Exhibition hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on both days, with private appointments available following the show.
The curated collection for PURE includes new work by Moscow artists Casey Doyle and Mario Montes. First-time exhibitors at Little Pink House Gallery, Doyle and Montes are influenced by their study and appreciation of nature.
Montes, a graphic artist, illustrator, and paper sculptor, will present works on paper that employ repetition to evoke a sense of calm. “My process requires a close examination of the natural world, of stillness and meditation,” says Montes. “I am excited to be working with Ellen on this show.”
Doyle, a multi-media artist and Associate Professor of Art and Design at the University of Idaho, will show new clay works. His use of form is playful and challenges the viewer to explore the unseen, the imagined, and the observed.
“Mario and Casey will be exhibiting pieces that that immediately conjure concepts of the purity of form and color,” says LPHG owner and artist Ellen Vieth, who taught Intermediate and Advanced Painting at the University of Idaho this year. “As visual artists, we are always searching for greater meaning in a memory or a poem or a metaphor. The exploration of the meaning of pure is a constant theme.”
In addition to Doyle and Montes, new work by painters Annie Coe of New Mexico, and Palouse artists Jeanne Fulfs, Aaron Johnson, Lauren McCleary and Ellen Vieth will be featured. Other new work includes ceramics by Jill Birschbach and Melissa Mytty, sculptures by David Herbold and Stacy Isenbarger, and, jewelry by Krista Brand and Nara Croft.
