Moscow Farmers Market - American Farmland Trust's Farmers Market Celebration 2017

The Moscow Farmers Market is in the running to receive national recognition from American Farmland Trust, a national nonprofit dedicated to saving farmland for the next generation. Market shoppers are encouraged to endorse the Moscow Farmers Market by visiting http://markets.farmland.org/market/moscow-farmers-market/. The Moscow Farmers Market is located downtown on Main Street and in Friendship Square. It is held every Saturday, May through October, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
What you put on your fork matters. That’s the message behind American Farmland Trust’s ninth annual Farmers Market Celebration. The Celebration calls on shoppers to help identify the best of America’s farmers markets. The summer-long event ends September 22, 2017 at midnight EST.
“The Celebration encourages market customers, family farmers, community activists – anyone who believes they’ve got the best farmers market in the country – to endorse their market in four special areas: Focus on Farmers, Healthy Food for All, Pillar of the Community, and Champion for the Environment,” said Susan Sink, Vice President of Development and External Relations.
At the end of the Celebration, American Farmland Trust will present awards to the most endorsed markets in the four special areas, the “People’s Choice” award (presented to markets who rally the most supporters), and the top three most recommended farmers markets in every state. Markets that place in any of the above categories will receive a special online logo honoring their achievement, No Farms No Food® gear, and recognition on the Celebration’s national website.

The Moscow Farmers Market is a popular tradition that was established in 1976. The Saturday event celebrates local farmers, artists, craftspeople and musicians by providing them with an opportunity to interact directly with the community and its visitors. Highlights include fresh produce, meat, delicious homemade baked goods, healthy nursery plants, beautiful flowers and quality handmade crafts. The market will feature a number of events this season including live music and performances; a variety of City Commissions and organizations; the University of Idaho, College of Agricultural & Life Sciences (CALS); Chefs at the Market cooking demonstration (the Market will host a chef cooking demonstration the last Saturday of the month featuring a wonderful tasty creation!); Chess at the Market with the University of Idaho Chess Club (enjoy the game while playing with giant 25” pieces); and so much more!
