Moscow Farmers Market Opening Day, May 6, 2017

May 4, 2017 (Moscow, Idaho) — The first day of the Moscow Farmers Market 2017 season is May 6, 2017.  Mayor Bill Lambert will ring the opening bell at 8 a.m. officially kicking off the 2017 season.  Opening of the downtown restrooms will follow the opening bell.  Additional Market activities include:
 
Music: Live music at Friendship Square will be provided by UI Dance Outreach at 9:30 a.m. followed by Jon & Rand at 11:00 a.m.
 
Special Events: Featuring a new partnership and feature at the Market, the University of Idaho College of Agricultural & Life Sciences (CALS) is featuring a season-long program of Summer of Science activities for children in grades kindergarten through fifth providing opportunities to exercise their observation skills.  They’ll be located by the clock in Friendship Square. Visit their booth this Saturday to chat with David Hoadley, the CALS Program Coordinator to learn more about their program and pick-up a free packet of Idelight green bean provided by the Idaho Foundation Seed Program. Idelight green beans are stringless snap beans with dark seeds.
 
City Commission Highlight: The Tree Commission will be on hand from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. by the bus shelter in Friendship Square highlighting their work and current projects.
 
Vendor of the Week: Victory Farm from Moscow, Idaho is a new joint venture with previous vendors River City Farm and Moscow Urban Farm.  Product highlights for the coming week include radishes, herbs, spinach, vegetables, and much more.
 
Shop the Market with Backyard Harvest: Area families can use EBT or SNAP benefits. Visit the Shop the Market booth at the City Tent, by the fountain in Friendship Square, to receive “Market Money” which vendors will accept for approved purchases.  Special thanks to Backyard Harvest for their continued partnership in this program.
