The Moscow Police Department has recently handled 2 (two) cases where community members have received scam calls from a suspect who claims to be from Idaho State Police.  The suspect making the calls demands a large amount of money be transferred to an account or that Google gift cards be purchased and the numbers from the cards sent to directly to the suspect.  The suspect leaves a return phone number that goes to Idaho State Police Dispatch.  After consulting with Idaho State Police Investigations it was confirmed that the Idaho State Police does not make these types of calls or payment requests.

Citizens who receive such a call should not give out any personal information and are encouraged to contact local law enforcement at 208-882-COPS.
