Palouse Plein Air 2017

Calling all painters!  The City of Moscow, Moscow Arts Commission, and Prichard Art Gallery invite you to participate in the eighth annual Palouse Plein Air.

What is Plein Air?

French for “in the open air” used to describe the act of painting outdoors. Plein air competitions are all about painting outdoors in a specific area or region and then having those paintings exhibited in an art gallery.

 This multi-day painting competition begins September 2, 2017 and runs through September 8, 2017! The competition is open to artists 18 years-of-age or older. All painting mediums are welcome! The entrance fee is $20 per participant or $15 per University of Idaho / Washington State University student participant. The entrance fee includes: registration in the competition and an invitation to the Artist Reception / Awards Ceremony on September 8, 2017.

 To get started: Participants must paint on a stamped and dated painting surface. There is no limit to the number of painting surfaces that can be stamped. Participants are to register and get stamps at the following times and locations:

 September 2, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Moscow Farmers Market at the City Information Tent (by the clock in Friendship Square).

 September 5, 6, and 7, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Moscow City Hall on the 1st floor.

3rd Place

 Best Palouse, Best Historical, Best Downtown, Artists’ Choice, Peoples’ Choice, University Student, Honorable Mention(s).

 September 8, 2017

Drop of finished works. Participants are to deliver a maximum of 3 finished entries framed and ready to hang from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The judging by the participants will take place at a time TBA. The Reception and Awards will be on September 8, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
