The Moscow Food Co-op invites the public to attend the annual "Love Your Farmer, Love Your Food Event " from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., on Friday, February 10 at City Hall, 206 E. 3rd Street, Moscow, Idaho. This free event will provide an opportunity for community members to meet and talk with the people who provide many local products around the Palouse.

A panel discussion moderated by Adam Reed of Victory Farm from 5:45 – 7:15 p.m will feature a variety of folks invested in local food. Adam feels events like Love Your Farmer, Love Your Food are important because, “One of my goals as a farmer is for everybody who wants to eat local to be able to.” Many of our panelists for 2017 share this vision. This year we welcome Kelly Kingsland from Affinity Farms; Leah & Greg Sempel from Pokey Creek Farm; Jen Elliot from Palouse Prairie Farm; Alice Ma from WSU Dining Services; Carly Lilly from Maialina Pizzeria Napoletana; and Steve Shepherd from WSU’s Entomology Department. Topics covered by the panel will revolve around the theme “The Value of Local Food”.

Before and after the panel, community members can meet and chat with local producers through the Farmer Fair. Misty Amarena, Education & Outreach Coordinator for the Moscow Food Co-op, shared that, “Love Your Farmer, Love Your Food is all about getting to know our great producers and building relationships. It is also a time to come together and celebrate eating locally.”  The Farmer Fair will feature free locally sourced appetizers and treats prepared by Kitchen Counter, Brush Creek Creamery, and Goosehouse Bakery. There will also be a no-host bar of local libations from Hunga Dunga and Colter’s Creek Winery. Plus, volunteers will be providing a kids’ zone with crafts and activities making this a fun event for the whole family!

The event is co-sponsored by City of Moscow, University of Idaho Extension, the Palouse-Clearwater Food Coalition, Rural Roots, and AmeriCorps VISTA Palouse Fresh Food Project

The Co-op is located at 121 East Fifth Street in downtown Moscow.
