Spring Valley Reservoir Drowning

On 04-02-2018 at about 2034 hours, Latah County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Spring Valley Reservoir for a reported missing person. It was reported that a 68 year old man, from Deary, had not returned home from a fishing trip. It was reported he was fishing on the lake using a small boat. The man’s vehicle was located parked near the boat ramp. Deputies began searching the perimeter around the lake and located a partially submerged overturned boat believed to be owned by the missing man. The boat was floating about one hundred yards north of the dock, on the west side of the reservoir. It was located at 2145 hours.

 

Members of the Troy Fire Department responded to the scene with a boat to search the water. The missing man was found floating under the water at about 2330 hours. He was found near the southwest dock. The man was removed from the water and transported to Gritman Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
