(Moscow, Idaho) — Join us for the Third Street Gallery’s exhibition titled: “Photojournalism on the Palouse” March 18 – May 24, 2019.

The reception for this exhibition will be held Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and will feature a panel discussion The Photograph in Contemporary News Media starting at 6:00 p.m. The discussion will be moderated by Kenton Bird, Associate Professor, University of Idaho School of Journalism and Mass Media. Small bites and a no-host bar will be provided by Bloom.

Photojournalism on the Palouse offers viewers a closer look at images made by professional photojournalists as well as those emerging in the field. While most encounters with this kind of photography are either on newsprint or in the fast-scrolling landscape of the internet, this exhibition is an opportunity for photographers to share their favorite images in a space where viewers can slow down to take a longer look. The work of these artists serves an important function by accompanying daily news stories, but the Third Street Gallery’s show celebrates the newspaper photograph as a work of art. Far beyond simple snapshots, well-timed newspaper photographs communicate through the language of subject matter and composition as they illuminate our shared human story.
