University of Idaho and Safe Routes to School Celebrate National Bike Month with Fill the Racks! in

May 2, 2017 (Moscow, Idaho) – Safe Routes to School is encouraging students to bike, roll, or glide to school on Wednesday, May 3rd for Fill the Racks!
Fill the Racks! is an annual event during National Bike Month (May) that coincides with Bike for Life month here in Moscow. Our event at each Moscow school has been added to the 1,600 events happening nation-wide. More information can be found at: http://www.walkbiketoschool.org/go/whos-biking/2014
All 8 Moscow Public and Charter Schools grades K-8 are planning to participate.
All students who get to school by active travel (including walking and/or bus) will be celebrated this year and will receive a ‘One Less Car’ sticker for their bike or helmet. All bikers are encouraged to wear helmets and check their A,B,C’s (Air, Breaks and Chain) before getting on their bikes. Features of this year’s event include:
Safe Routes to School (SR2S) events always encourage safety, physical activity, reduced traffic congestion, and promote the enjoyment of the outdoors as a community. Parents, teachers and community leaders are encouraged to join us by using active travel methods whenever and wherever possible on this day. The City of Moscow and University of Idaho SR2S program thank the Moscow community for their support for these safe and fun events.

- Pre-event free bike tune-ups at participating schools!
- Parents, U of I students, and community volunteers will be helping with the event at each school.
- Free bike helmets for kids grade K-8 while supplies last.
- Stickers for bikes and helmets.
- Wall of Fame pictures at Moscow Middle School as we rap up our ‘Walk, Bike, Ride’ program to help reduce carbon monoxide emissions from vehicles around the school.
